Molder / Melter Operator – 1st / 2nd Shifts

SUMMARY: Mold and Melt Operators (recognized internally as M-Operators) are responsible for melting and/or molding operations within the organization. There are three levels of M-Operators, with various and advancing levels of skill and knowledge throughout the levels. Job functions throughout the M levels include, but are not limited to, melting aluminum to appropriate specifications, castings parts in low pressure and/or gravity pour machines. Other organizational functions outside of molding and melting are recognized in higher levels of the M function. The three levels of skills and mastery are outlined in the M Development Plan (AMT***). M-Operators are able to advance through various levels in the M function as skills, knowledge, and capabilities allow, as well as the need to meet organizational needs.

WAGE TYPE: Hourly Non-Exempt

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow all safety protocol and wear all required PPE
  • Safely operate all equipment and tools associated with M level
  • Safely perform all job functions as outlined in the Functional Job Analysis (physical job description)
  • Perform work in accordance with specific job work instructions
  • Accurately identify casting defects to determine if parts are acceptable per the cosmetic standard
  • Correctly fix any defects to ensure compliance with the standard
  • Follow written and verbal instructions with accuracy
  • General tasks or duties as assigned
  • Must obtain fork truck driver certification if working in certain functions as determined by leadership

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:

  • Reports to: Shift Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.

Education and/or Experience Expected:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D required
  • Must pass ATEK Molder and Melting Training to become a Certified Molder / Melter
  • Must pass ATEK Functional Job Analysis and Pre- Employment Drug Screen for the position

Preferred:

  • Prior manufacturing experience is preferred
  • National Career Readiness Certificate is preferred

Communication Skills:

  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent exposure to foundry like environment (high heat, dust, etc.)
